Parenting, Ramblings of a Mommy

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

I know it’s been a while since my last post.. My parents came to visit, so I decided to take a little break from the blogging world.

My dad treated us to Sea World, it was our first time there. My 2 year old daughter had a blast! She saw the whales, dolphins, turtles, and went on a whole bunch of rides.

The next day we went fishing. It was my daughter’s first time holding a fishing pole as well. Although we didn’t catch a dang thing, she still had lots of fun.

I had tons of fun too, but honestly I’m not used to running around with my kids all day. And I have been EXAUSTED.

Now that I’m back to the life of a blogging mom, I decided my topic for today would be tips and tricks for tired moms. For me, even with my much needed 10 cups of coffee during the day.. I’m not exaggerating either.. I’m still exhausted and trying to find the energy to get my big bum off the couch and do something productive.

The first thing I do when my kids and I get up is practically run to the coffee pot. Afterwards, I wash my face with cold water. I actually don’t think it helps me wake up much, but it does feel refreshing.

The first tip I suggest.. and don’t shoot me.. is exercising as early as possible. Exercising in the morning gets the blood pumping, waking you up and gives you lots energy. Even just a 10 minute workout while the kids are eating breakfast will do.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you aren’t hydrated enough, fatigue will kick in. I always drink water like a fish, so I don’t really have to try on this one. But sipping on ice cold water supposedly speeds up your metabolism, so I guess that’s a win-win.

Take a break. Don’t kill yourself trying to keep the house spotless. And if you have kids, that’s pretty much impossible anyway. I can break my back trying to clean up messes all day, and I swear my kids make a tornado of anything and everything right behind me!

Eat healthy. Try eating more foods that give you energy. Whole grains, bananas, apples, oranges, spinach, almonds, fish, yogurt, and eggs are just some food that will give you a little boost. And don’t forget to take your daily multivitamins, those also help.

Take a nap. I know most of you are probably laughing at this one. Truth is, I would be too. Unless you kids take naps at the same time, or you only have one little monster, it’s almost impossible to try and take a little nap. But if you are that lucky, TAKE A FRIGGIN NAP! You’ll feel better, trust me.

Get out of the house. For me, taking my kids anywhere is a hassle in itself. I literally get five minutes down the road and they’re both crying and screaming. And I’m like, Why do I even try?! But even just going to the park or taking a little stroll around your neighborhood is good enough.

Sometimes us moms just need a lazy day where we don’t get off the couch unless we have to pee. With the last few days I’ve had, today is definitely going to be one of those days for me. And it’s okay, don’t feel guilty about it. We deserve to have a lazy day once in a while!

I hope you can try some of these tips and tricks and help you feel less like a Mombie! (Zombie + Mom)
